Starting point for this study is a Middle Kingdom limestone slab now in the Louvre (inv. no. E 25485) inscribed for an official known from the 12th or 13th Dynasty in the area of Atfih on the east bank of the Nile near the Fayum. A line from Book of the Dead Spell 22 makes this occurrence on a Middle Kingdom object a curious find because the line is not attested in the Coffin Texts.
