The final season of excavations by Macquarie University at the mountain of El Hawawish near Akhmim in Upper Egypt produced two exceptional finds: the small wooden statue of man standing; and two pleated linen dresses, one of which is virtually complete and, while fragile, in an unusually good condition for an object of perishable cloth which is over 4,000 years old, probably dated to the latter part of Dynasty 6 (Tomb H26a).
