Dancing on a time line: visually communicating the passage of time in ancient Egyptian wall art

The author investigates methods of how the ancient Egyptian artists represented time and dynamic activity through figures in mid-air, action lines, and spatial markers, horizontal and vertical arrangements of episodes, continued occurrence of the same figures, the showing of trajectory and more, the compressing of time into single episodes and also the expansion into 'filmstrip-style'.
