<p dir="ltr">The author reviews research on the interactions between Egypt and the city -states and territories of the Levant during the New Kingdom. By analysing passages from the Amarna Letters (e.g. EA 180, EA 137, EA 129 and 132), new light is shed on the practice of sending royal offspring to Egypt.</p>
