At the site of Tell es-Safi/Gath in the southern Levant, domestic animals from Egypt were recently identified in Early Bronze Age III levels, c. 2900/2850-2500 BCE. This opens up the possibility of trade between Egypt and its neighbours. The economic interest of Egypt are explored in the light of these findings.
