<p dir="ltr">The special focus of the article are the shafts in the Middle Kingdom tomb of Khnumhotep II at Beni Hassan. One of them has significantly different dimensions and proportions. A comparison with findings at el-Hawawish (tomb of Qereri, Q15) leads to the suggestion that the curious foruth shaft could be a pool.</p>
