The article draws attention to Max Weidenbach (born 1823), one of the artists and draughtsmen who accompanied Richard Lepsius on the pioneering royal Prussian expedition to Egypt 1842-1845. Several years after their return to Berlin, Max Weidenbach emigrated to South Australia, where some of his possessions are now kept in the South Australian Museum in Adelaide.
