The Old Kingdom site of Tehna is located on the east bank of the Nile, about 250 km south of Cairo and 12 km north of Minya. The 15 tombs dated to the 5th Dynasty (also known as the "Fraser tombs") are unique in that they are rock-cut mastabas, hewn into the lower part of the escarpment. The special focus of this article are the engaged statues in tombs 2, 13 (Nika-ankh I) and 15 (Nika-ankh II), which impress by their size and number.
