Tomb scenes are analysed from 11 tombs dating from the 4th to the 6th Dynasty from the sites of Abusir, Saqqara, Giza, El-Hammamiya and Deir el-Gebrawi showing the so-called pilgrimage and the "pulling the papyrus" (sSS-wAD) ritual. Questions surrounding the destination of the voyage are discussed.
