The upper airway is an important component of the human body, particularly the epiglottis and surrounding region. Studies have shown that in terms of retaining drug particles, the epiglottis is the most prominent region involved. However, a significan amount of research has not been completed in order to investigate and define a potential relationship between epiglottis geometry and airflow through the region. This project will involve the creation of upper airway models and airflow simulations to determine whether a relationship exists, potentiall laying a platform for new methods to be developed with respect to drug particle retention within the region.
