This study involved a qualitative and participative action research exploration of the dynamics of situated learning within a project management practice. The purpose of this thesis is to make a contribution to understanding how project participants conduct their intra-project learning activity and provide a framework to guide them in better cultivating this learning. This thesis helps address a dearth of empirical examples and a gap in knowledge regarding learning within a project environment. The data informing the findings of this study were generated from eighteen months of fieldwork with one project team undertaking an organizational change project within an operational unit of an Australian Iron and Steel producing company i.e. BHP Steel.
