This research project explores the ethical considerations surrounding the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Australian insurance sector. While AI advances risk assessment, pricing and underwriting, ethical concerns remain underexplored. Using TCCM (theory, context, characteristics and methodology) framework, this study applies web scraping to analyse insurers’ media releases and web pages. K-means clustering identified six thematic topics, with operational content dominating ethical discourse. Only 42% of companies referenced at least one of Australia’s 8 Artificial Intelligence Ethics Principles, most frequently wellbeing and privacy. Transparency, explainability and fairness were least cited, revealing a gap between ethical intent and practice.
