Female agency in the Mycenaean Bronze Age
thesis
posted on 2022-11-18, 00:07 authored by Alison Jean CarfiThis thesis is concerned with the bounds of female agency in Mycenaean society. The process of reviewing literature pertaining to this topic elucidated the androcentrism of some past interpretations. Therefore, this thesis arose as a way to react to these androcentric viewpoints and explore alternative interpretations of the evidence. The evidence is comprised of the kourotrophic figurines, the palatial fresco depictions, and the Linear B tablets. This thesis aims to look at the evidence with a fresh perspective and to offer some alternative ways of interpreting it.
